The Curse of an Online Business

Open for Business – Closed one month later
“I Give Up!”
It surprises me how many eager people I meet online that are so excited to start an online business but threaten to quit within their first month.
I mean they tell me that they are serious. They tell me that they will work endless hours to make this work. But again, most end up quitting one month later.
If you want to make serious money online you need to ask yourself the following question:
“If You Opened a Restaurant, would you close it one month later because you weren’t getting the customers you expected?”
Sounds silly doesn’t it? Of course you wouldn’t! You would do whatever it takes to make your restaurant a success.
So, what would you do first? Get more customers? That is the logical answer and this relates to your online business too.
If you lack sales, you need customers too! When running an online business the only alternative is to drive prospects to your website. If you stop advertising, guess what happens? The prospects stop which will lessen your chances for a sale.
If you were a restaurant owner would you stop advertising after one month in business? I am surprised how many online entrepreneurs said “no” to this question but they refuse to put any advertising into their own business. Some state that owning a restaurant is different than an online business.
Bottom line, business owners are serious about making money. Business owners are willing to put in the hours and the advertising dollars to make their business a success.
So.. why are business owners so different online?
Did you know that it takes the average restaurant 5 years before they see a big return in revenue. So, why are some restaurant owners willing to spend 5 years, 10 hours a day before they see a huge return when the average online entrepreneur will only give their business a few hours, days or even one month?
When you think about quitting, think about the restaurant owner that is putting all their blood, sweat, and tears into their business. Think about that restaurant owner that is willing to wait 5 years to see that big return.
To all online entrepreneurs, if you put your mind to it, you can start seeing a much bigger return in a much quicker manner than the restaurant owner. But there is a catch… you have to treat your business seriously just like the restaurant owner does.
